Daniel Herzog, class of 2021, was chosen by Bethel University to be a part of their Innovation Scholars team, where he got to work directly with NASA on bringing to market a groundbreaking Full-Spectrum Infrasonic Stethoscope. Very few students are chosen to participate in this program, and even fewer still get the opportunity to work with an organization like NASA. "It was such a blessing to be a part of it," Daniel said.

Having sat down with Daniel to discuss his role on the Scholars team and what it all meant to him, he is grateful to have been given such an opportunity. Taking what he learned in his college courses and then applying it to an actual real-world situation opened his eyes to how business flows outside academia. Daniel called it one of the best opportunities he could have had to prepare him for life outside college.

The application process for the Innovation Scholars program was rather rigorous, but Daniel felt that it was worth the work and effort. The program took place over the summer, during which Daniel worked with a team alongside several other student interns. "We were working on something that could potentially be used in the real world and affect lives," Daniel said. "That was really cool and gave me a deeper understanding of what it means to be an engineer." His advice to students considering applying? "Be genuine and authentic. Follow your passions and see where they lead you. Don't just do things because you think it will look good on an application." This summer experience truly prepared Daniel to launch into his future with confidence and enthusiasm.
